National Program Highlights

With eFunds offering notations on graduates ChexSystemsSM files and the benefit of obtaining access to a deposit account and a second chance at mainstream banking services, Get Checking provides an end result currently no other financial education program nor a provider of risk management services offer.

To date, Get Checking has helped approximately 7,600 consumers develop the financial knowledge and practical skills to use banking services effectively and become new deposit account holders since 2001.

The program is currently available in 55 markets across 19 states with 64 community and educational organizations teaching the curriculum and 172 financial institutions with 4,760 branches actively participating.

In 2004, there were 2,304 Get Checking graduates and 2,281 (99%) became new account holders. Out of the total graduates, 642 (28%) were truly un-banked without any banking history.

At the end of 2Q 2005, there were 2,923 Get Checking graduates and 2,910 (99%) became new account holders. Out of the total graduates, 681 (23%) were truly un-banked without any banking history.

The retention rate for accounts opened by Get Checking graduates consistently remains high at 95%, with only 5% of total graduates repeating problem behavior. Financial institutions and class facilitators throughout the country identify that, given education and the opportunity, consumers will change their financial behavior.
